Inception

The inception: when Lucy and Aman realized that despite being almost thirty and from very different countries, our parents still wow us with amazing parenting techniques and their fascinating stories of the Old Country.

Aman: ... the passive aggressiveness is always awesome
"you know all we want is for our children to be better than us"
  meaning u are not
Lucy do your parents use the 'we're old and will die one day' line
Aman:  HAHA YES
Lucy lol. there must be a FOB parenting club
Aman:  "you have to be with us and use us while we are still here"
  yep
  i think like a magazine
Lucy  or at least a forum
Aman:  how to make your child feel guilty October monthly
some FOB parent posing on the cover
Lucy talking down to their adult children
Aman:  and the marriage talks etc
Does your adult child think they are the shit?
10 ways to bring them down
Lucy lol. Marriage talk section of the monthly mag

It was then that we realized that the truthfully heart-warming, hilarious, and tradition-ridden stories of our parents growing up in a world so different from ours need to be preserved. Equally important, the loving and very often mis-directed parenting techniques must be chronicled. Because our communications are often funny yet infuriating. Our parents' glimpse of logic can be only seen by us, the first generation children who straddle between old tradition, traditions shattered by violent politics, and the modern Global World.

Our parents are brave, strong, hard working, loving, isolated, and lonely. They struggled so hard, understand so much hardships, yet sometimes understand so little of the environment that they are in. While we all come from the Old Country, their experiences as adults and ours, growing up in America, keep us apart and unite us as family.
